Release date for the 2018 Acura RLX

Spitzer Acura customers who have been eagerly waiting for the 2018 Acura RLX to arrive in our showroom won’t have many more days to cross off of their calendars before the new Acura sedan gets here. The automaker has sent word that it has already started making its first deliveries of the new sedan and the release date for the 2018 Acura RLX is very close at hand. For the new model year, the 2018 RLX is adopting a new Acura design philosophy which respects the company’s performance history as well as its cutting-edge systems and features. Additionally, the 2018 Acura RLX comes in two main versions, Precision All-Wheel Steering™ (P-AWS) and Sport Hybrid with all-wheel-drive (SH-AWD).

Performance specs: 2018 RLX

The main difference between the two versions of the 2018 Acura RLX that are destined for the Spitzer Acura showroom is which transmission it uses as well as its fuel economy scores*.

Versions of the 2018 RLX with all-wheel-steering use a 3.5-liter, V-6 engine attached to a new 10-speed automatic transmission. The latest available information from Acura states that the car will make 310 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. Potential owners of this model can also expect to achieve 20 miles per gallon in the city* and 29 miles per gallon on the highway*.

By comparison, the Sport Hybrid version uses the same basic engine set up, but with an additional pair of electric motors attached to the rear wheels. This Twin Motor Unit can help the 2018 RLX be more efficient as well as help keep wheels from slipping in less-than-ideal road conditions. The performance output between the two 2018 RLX variants is nearly identical with the Sport Hybrid version making 273 pound-feet of torque as well as posting Environmental Protection Agency fuel-economy estimates of 28 mpg in the city* and 29 mpg on the highway.
