Skip all the hassle of figuring out and remembering your next oil change or tire rotation in Bethel Park when you drive an Acura vehicle. Your Acura has a built-in system, known as the maintenance minder, that notifies you when maintenance is due or when there is an issue that requires your attention. You’ll never have to worry about forgetting to service your car when you have this system to help you stay ahead of the schedule! You can even be a step ahead of any upcoming issues, so you can drive with peace of mind. Learn more below from Spitzer Acura to see how this system can make your life much easier!
How this system works is by monitoring the engine, which will help coordinate oil service dates and other maintenance check-ups. You should be able to see the engine oil life on the information screen as well as any notifications to replace the engine oil or to get regular engine maintenance done. Displayed as a percentage, the oil life indicator gradually drops over time as the miles add up. The oil life is determined accurately with various factors, including speed, engine temperature, ambient air temperature, time, and vehicle use in the Canonsburg area!
Oil Life Percentage |
Message Displayed |
Recommended Action |
15% | Service Due Soon | Plan to take vehicle in for scheduled maintenance. |
5% | Service Due Now | Take your Acura vehicle in NOW for scheduled maintenance. |
0% | Service Past Due | Service is overdue. Take your Acura vehicle in NOW for scheduled maintenance! |
Besides the oil life indicator, you will also see a letter and sometimes a number on the information screen on your dashboard. These are known as “Main Codes” and “Sub Codes.” When your Acura is due for service, a Main Code will always be displayed, so you can know exactly what services your car needs. Sometimes, a Sub Code will be displayed alongside the Main Code if there are more specific details that you need to know. Get familiar with the meanings of these codes below or in your owner’s manual.
Main Code |
Description |
A | Replace engine oil, perform multi-point vehicle inspection |
B | Applies to one or more of the following: Replace engine oil and filter, perform multi-point vehicle inspection |

It’s no secret that Acura models are built to last. In addition to offering vehicles with high-performing engine options and enhanced safety features, we also know the reliability that comes from driving a new or used Acura vehicle. That’s why we stress the importance of staying on top of your Acura maintenance schedule.
When you schedule Acura maintenance, our team will perform an oil and oil filter change, rotate your tires and top off all fluids. Oil changes are recommended every 5,000 to 10,000 miles to remove old oil that could prevent lubrication for the engine components. Over time, it’s common for the oil to become filled with particles and dirt. An oil change swaps out the old oil so you can enjoy the performance and exceptional fuel economy you know and love with your Acura SUV or sedan.
During your service visit, our team can also hook up your vehicle to our diagnostic system to determine any Acura maintenance codes that could indicate a problem in the future. We believe in preventative maintenance to decrease the cost of service and help you avoid costly repairs in the future.
An Acura maintenance schedule outlines all necessary auto repairs needed for your vehicle with a timeline you can easily follow. Even though we do send out maintenance minders via the Acura app, email or text, it’s good to know that you have an Acura maintenance schedule to follow.
In addition to oil change service every 5,000 to 10,000 miles, your Acura maintenance schedule will also include additional repairs needed at different mileage timelines. At the 15,000 mile mark, the certified technicians at our service center will perform oil change service, rotate and balance the tires, check and replace the air filter if needed and top off all fluid levels.
At the 30,000 mile mark, in addition to the same services at the 15,000-mile mark, our team will also check and replace brake pads if needed, perform an evaluation of the suspension and shocks and check and replace the fuel filter if needed. By 60,000 miles, this visit includes additional inspections of the battery, brake rotors, belts and hoses.
At 90,000 miles, Acura maintenance includes a top to bottom inspection of your vehicle, as well as an inspection of the safety and technology features and the spark plugs. To improve your experience driving your Acura, we recommend that you contact our service team if you notice any problems with your vehicle in between visits as recommended by your Acura maintenance schedule.
You know your vehicle, which is why the service team at our Acura dealership in McMurray, PA, relies on your input when you stop in for Acura maintenance. If you’ve noticed that your vehicle isn’t performing as it should, we recommend you schedule service earlier than what is recommended on your Acura maintenance schedule.
Common signs that you need service may include warning lights on the dashboard, including the check engine light. Other signs that you may need service include odd odors in the cabin or stemming from the engine, difficulty stopping or a vibration on your steering wheel.
